Donald Trump admitted to Joe Rogan what his ‘biggest mistake’ was during his term as president. Trump was interviewed on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast on Friday night where he discussed pressing issues about his election campaign and presidency.
The former president finally appeared on Rogan’s podcast after the UFC commentator previously stated he wasn’t interested in having Trump on the show. However, Rogan admitted he changed his mind after Trump was shot in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Conversations between the two turned to Trump’s time in The White House where he admitted he made “bad choices” when he selected members of his cabinet. Trump claimed he owes his “success” to his decision-making and his Supreme Court picks.
He told Rogan: “The one mistake… I will say it always comes back to the same answer, the biggest mistake I made… I picked some people that I shouldn’t have picked.” Trump described them as “neocons (neoconservative), or bad people, or disloyal people”.
Trump named two former members of his administration: John Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general who had been Trump’s chief of staff, and John Bolton, his national security adviser.
Both are among a number of former Trump officials who have been highly critical of the former president since serving under him. Kelly recently launched a claim that Trump is a fan of Adolf Hitler and warned he would “govern like a dictator if allowed,” something Trump denied.
Kelly was quoted earlier this week by The New York Times saying that he personally witnessed Trump expressing an affinity with the Nazi dictator and offering praise for “Hitler’s generals.”
Trump responded to the accusation on his Truth Social platform, calling Kelly a “degenerate…..who made up a story out of pure Trump Derangement Syndrome Hatred. This guy had two qualities, which don’t work well together,” he wrote. “He was tough and dumb. John Kelly is a low life.”
During the interview with Rogan, the feud with Kelly was touched upon, where Trump called Kelly “a bully but a weak person” and said he’s “bad,” while he disparaged Bolton as “an idiot.”
Rogan also pressed Trump about the former president’s assertions that he was robbed in the 2020 election when Joe Biden defeated him in the presidential election. “That election was so crooked, it was the most crooked election,” he replied.
The podcast host asked Trump if he was going to present his accusation but he seemingly ignored the question and instead brought up the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was first reported by the New York Post before the 2020 election.
A letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials at the time of the initial story’s publication said “they believed that the contents of the laptop — full of evidence of drug use, prostitution and foreign business deals — could be part of a Russian campaign aimed at influencing the election,” the Times reported.
Trump repeated unsubstantiated GOP claims on Rogan’s show that the doubts owed about the laptop’s authenticity helped Biden’s election.
